It doesn’t take twenty years to register degrees of disappointment. And waiting twenty years to prove Mr. Clemens wrong is not the way to go – even though a disturbingly large number of people seem to think so these days.
Don’t start curling up. I’m not going to get all political on you. That way lies madness. Besides, it’s too easy to be angry and bitter and defensive.
Let’s stick to art…and thought, and curiosity, and inspiration, and perspiration – because they all go together, you know. Not a stunning revelation. Not meant to be. Does kind of put you in close touch with your higher self, though.
Go somewhere else today. Get out of yourself. Stop reading the headlines and start making some.
Explore. Dream. Discover. Make up a world that lives up to your wildest expectation…and explore it. Dream a dream of a new reality…and live it for a day. Discover what it would be like to have things the way you want them to be…just for the length of time it takes to write them, or sing them, or paint them, or draw them or sculpt them.
Create something…and sail away. You won’t be disappointed.
